What is Playful Strategy?

First and foremost, we offer brand and marketing communications strategy services. The discipline, first named account planning, was born in advertising agencies in the late 1960s in the United Kingdom, because several ad execs and media researchers started asking questions. They asked questions like:

  • What is a brand?
  • What makes good marketing communications or advertising? How does it work?
  • What grows our client’s business and brand?
  • Who are these people buying or not buying the things we’re trying to sell?

Fellow strategists like ourselves are still asking many of the same questions, and new ones have arisen in the kind of fast moving and complex business and media landscape brands evolve in today.

The job involves working with brands, agencies, and start-ups interested in better marketing and selling their products and services.

It might involve creative communications, innovation, future-thinking, trends, new ideas for products and services. That said, in our experience we find it nearly always involves gaining some kind of perspective before being able to devise a strategy for success.
